Membership Information

Memberships are valid for three years, and available only to residents that live within the Oakridge city limits. If you live in Westfir or outside of the city limits, your property taxes go to Lane County, not Oakridge, so memberships are restricted to at least one the following requirements:
- You must have an Oakridge post office box
- Own property within the Oakridge city limits
- You have children in the Oakridge school district that qualify for the free / reduced lunch program
- Volunteer 20 hours of service to the library

These guidelines are in effect until the year 2011, and are due to restrictions under the Federal grant that was received to build the new library.

The new library will be located next to City Hall. Construction is scheduled to begin in late spring, and completed around Fall 2009.

Volunteers are always encouraged to apply. This allows the library to have more open hours.

Interlibrary Loans

You may access your Oakridge account using your library card number and personal pin number, to check status of your account, renew items, and search the catalog. Requests must be placed at the Oakridge Public Library or by email at .

Items may be borrowed through the following libraries: Springfield, Siuslaw, Fern Ridge, Cottage Grove, Junction City and Creswell, and may be renewed only one time.

The catalog for all of the libraries above can be accessed at http://library.ci.springfield.or.us/

Ask the librarian for your personal pin number if you do not know it.

The Eugene Public Library will loan only older books with no renewals. Their catalog can be accessed at:
http://140.211.82.133/Polaris/Search/default.aspx?ctx=1.1033.0.0.1&type=Default.

There is no cost to borrow items during the school year, however summer orders cost $2.00 per item for postage.

We have large print and books on tape for the visually impaired. Additional items are available through the Oregon State Library for free. We carry the Register-Guard and Dead Mountain Echo newspapers. We offer a Summer Reading Program and co-sponsor the Dr. Seuss Read Across America program every year.
