Planning Commission Vacancy

You will also be interview by the City Council.
Purpose
The Planning Commission serves at the pleasure of the Council and its primary role, as its name
implies, is to plan. A Planning Commission is a body of citizens that serve within local
government, acting as an advisory group to the municipal governing body on issues and policies
related to planning, land use regulation, and community development.
Example Projects:
1) Recommendation to Council on Side-by-side Ordinance,
2) Highway 58 business frontage, and
3) Oakridge’s Transportation System Plan.
Term
Four years, unless filling a resigned seat.
Member Responsibilities
Members will attend committee meetings, review prior meeting minutes, and complete any tasks that may have been assigned. Most meetings are held monthly and are one hour in duration. The time commitment per month varies by position and project.
Ideal Candidate*
The ideal Planning Commissioner would be someone that has a strong desire to promote City of Oakridge growth while doing their best to adhere to city ordinances. Strong listening skills hear citizens when considering variances and conditional uses.
Desired Skills:
1) Planning implementation, 2) public speaking, 3) knowledge and understanding
of community issues and/or Ordinances and Code, 4) detailed listener, and 5) fair and open-
minded.
