Public Works

City of Oakridge

The Oakridge Community Service Department is responsible for the generation, treatment and distribution of potable water, the collection and treatment of wastewater, street and road maintenance and drainage, public building maintenance, Park and open space maintenance, levee maintenance and repair and the operation and maintenance of an emergency fire system at the industrial park.

Water is supplied by 5 wells located near Salmon Creek and distributed throughout the City by over 22 miles of various sized water mains. the City is currently in the early planning phases of a new 1 Million gallon reservoir and 1 new well. Water quality is high. You can View the Annual Drinking Water Quality Report in the link provided below.

Nineteen miles of sewer main carry wastewater to the treatment plant. The plant is very efficient and the removal of pollutants prior to discharge is consistently over 95%.

The City maintains over 60 acres of parks and open spaces and maintains a rest area which serves over 150,000 people annually. 18.75 miles of city-maintained streets and roads serve the citizens and businesses of Oakridge as well as the Industrial Park. Several of the streets have recently received complete reconstruction.

The Transportation System Plan identifies several more reconstruction projects. Two miles of Corps of Engineers constructed levees control seasonal flooding of Salmon Creek and provide an equal amount of bike/pedestrian pathways which access the USFS trail system at several points. The City maintains and repairs the levees.

City buildings include City Hall and the Willamette Activity Center which houses several community service organizations including the Oakridge City Council Chambers, Senior and Disabled Services and Food for Lane County. There is a community building, a shelter and an amphitheater at Greenwaters Park that is available for public use at minimal cost and a wonderful new fire hall with up-to-date communications and training equipment.

With fiber-optic points of presence available, the City is in a strong position to offer high-speed communications capability to industries that require that capability.

Oakridge has a non-towered General Aviation airport adjacent to the west City Limits. The 3,565-foot runway has a paved width of 50 feet and runs due east and west (9 and 27) at an elevation of 1,420 feet above sea level. The field is under the management of the State of Oregon and is unattended. Oregon Department of Aviation can be reached at (503) 378-4880.
