PRESS RELEASE - City of Oakridge Water Supply

PRESS RELEASE

City of Oakridge Water Supply

June 21, 2021

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Oakridge, OR – The City of Oakridge is asking all residents and customers in its water utility to begin measures to conserve water.  A national chlorine shortage has the potential to impair the City’s ability to procure sodium hypochlorite, the main chemical compound used to disinfect the water produced at the City’s water treatment facility.

The city currently has a 60-day supply, but should the national shortage extend beyond the expected timeframe, customers should prepare for the possibility that the City will have to implement curtailment measures if alternative sources are not identified.  Please be conservative when watering lawns and maintaining swimming pools.

The city is closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates on the city website and on social media   If you have any questions, please refer them to City Hall at 541-782-2258.
