Medical care is constantly improving in Oakridge. There is a clinic, a dental office, massage clinics, a vision practice, a pharmacy, Oakridge Fire Department ambulances, Fire Med coverage, and helicopters for emergency medical transport into Springfield where two full service hospitals are available for inpatient care. These hospitals, McKenzie-Willamette and Sacred Heart at River Bend, offer state of the art facilities with specialists in every field of medicine.

Locally, the Orchid Health Clinic ( https://orchidhealth.org/oakridge.html ) on Hwy 58 provides primary care providers for Oakridge area residents.  

Simultaneously our city government is working closely with federal representatives to be named a medically underserved area so we will be able to apply for funding to be a Federally Qualified Health Center. This will enable us to build a small hospital and urgent care center. This facility will also have mental health services, physical rehabilitation and overnight care.

Oakridge Fire and EMS (Emergency Medical Services)

EMS personnel includes paramedics capable of providing advanced life support on a 24/7 basis coverage. They are augmented by 52 volunteer staff members including EMT (emergency medical technicians) intermediates and basics, first responders and fire fighters.

Services include transport to medical centers, rescue and vehicle extrication for motor vehicle accidents, air ambulance transport provided from Eugene, and water rescue team, County provided search and rescue and public assist with lifting home patients. Transport is provided to emergency departments at Scared Heart Hospital River Bend, McKenzie Willamette and Sacred Heart University. Transport time is approximately 45 minutes.

Ambulances are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment including 12 lead heart monitors with transmittal capability to emergency department cardiac physicians.
