The City of Oakridge is dedicated to serving the community by providing a safe and secure place to work, live, and play. Thanks to a highly trained and progressive police department, along with a handful of devoted volunteers, Oakridge’s low crime rate and neighborhood spirit provide a safe and secure atmosphere. The police department is located at 76435 Ash Street (underneath City Hall) and is open Monday-Thursday 8am-5pm.
The Oakridge Police Department is comprised of a Chief Kevin Martin, Administrative Lieutenant Mikal McPherson, Patrol Lieutenant Shane Madsen, Senior Officer Valeri Miller, Officer Michael Baeuerlen, Officer Emma Vestre, Reserve Lt. Neil Ritz, Reserve Officer Kyle Lakey, and Reserve Officer James Cleavenger. The agency provides outstanding, year-round, 24-hour service to the Oakridge community as well as providing contracted services to the communities of Westfir and Lowell. The department is committed to ongoing training and is a member of the National Tactical Officer Association (NTOA).
In addition to providing excellent police services to the area, the Oakridge Police Department involves itself in the community and is committed to promoting neighborhood spirit and police-community relationships. The Oakridge Police Department also provides crime prevention tips and information. The department organizes three community events to foster a safe and fun environment for kids and the community: Trunk-or-Treat & a haunted jail cell tour on Halloween, Shop with a Cop in December, and National Night Out on the first Tuesday in August.
Oakridge operates a Municipal Court, which is located inside City Hall, to handles ordinance violations, traffic violations/tickets, and some misdemeanor crimes filed as violations under Ordinance 873.
Lane County Sheriff’s Department, Oregon State Police, and the United States Forest Service also provide limited law enforcement services to the area and work with Oakridge Police Department in mutual aid agreements.
