Oakridge Air Pile Burning

(OAKRIDGE AIR) Pile burning will occur today, Monday 5/8/2023, on Laurel Butte. Firefighters will continue to burn many small piles created by fuels reduction work on Laurel Butte. This is a critical final step to reduce wildfire risk. Ignitions began at 9:00 am and will continue through this afternoon.

 

Smoke may be visible from Oakridge, Westfir, and Hwy 58, but it is not expected to settle. Weather conditions today are very favorable for dispersion. This may be the last pile burning on Laurel Butte for the foreseeable future due to a string of hot and dry conditions in the forecast.
