USFS Burning Continues Today - 10/27/2021

The Middle Fork Ranger District will start burning hand piles on Wednesday, Oct. 27, on High Thin Unit 17. This unit is immediately adjacent to Oakridge city limits and the unit is split in half by High Prairie County Road. Burning piles and smoke will be seen from Oakridge as well as Highway 58. Nearby residences and recreationists should expect light impacts of smoke to roadways as well as increased fire personnel and equipment patrolling in the area.

The Willamette National Forest follows the Oregon Department of Forestry guidance as well as Lane Regional Air Protection Agency (LRAPA) guidelines before we engage in burning. Some of our piles continue to smoke and smolder for days after ignition.
